Robert Francis Kennedy (1925-1968)

John F. Kennedy’s younger brother, he will have a brilliant career in the Justice Department until his brother is elected President, in 1960. He will then be appointed Attorney General. He will be the President’s closest advisor during the Bay of Pigs and Cuban missiles crises, and no one denies the crucial role he will play in the civil rights movement. His whiole career, both before and after the White House era, will be devoted to fighting organized crime, especially the mafia and Jimmy Hoffa’s Teamsters, making him one of the most hated figures in the underworld. He will intervene personally in the major heroin bust that will become known as the Rivard Affair after Michel Caron gave up the name of his “employer” and was promised protection by the Department of Justice and RFK himself. In fact, Robert Kennedy personally signed the extradition request for Lucien Rivard.
