Based in Tampa, Florida, he is considered to be the last «traditional» godfather of the Cosa Nostra. He inherited his father’s «business» and became one of the most powerful mafia figures of the Batista era. In the wake of Castro’s Cuban revolution, all his assets will be seized and he’ll be expeled as an “unwelcome foreigner”. This is when he will start maintaining contacts with several agents of the American Secret Services and he will be involved at verious levels in several assassination attempts on El Commandante. Several leads have tied Carlos Marcello, Jimmy Hoffa, Chicago’s crime boss Sam Giancana and Santos Trafficante Jr. to the assassination of Kennedy, but nothing could be proven to this day. He played a pivotal role in dismantling the French Connection, his direct competition in the cocaine and heroin trade. In 1968, he helped Richard Nixon get elected. His health rapidly declined in his old days and he died in Housotn in 1987 where he had gone to get heart surgery.
